Creating A Goal Oriented Content.

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Information is consumed by users in many different ways, and it is difficult to determine how much they appreciate your articles. And if you can not give a definition of a “good content” in accordance with your readers’ vision, then perhaps you should try to do this taking into consideration a creator’s vision.

When we speak about a “good content” we think about how it affects the blog and the brand of course. This is a working definition that a good content it’s such a content, which can achieve the goals pursued by webmasters.

For example, if you want to get in touch with other bloggers in the same niche, a good article should contain links to as many bloggers as possible. If you are impatient and then you can try to promote a blog quickly, attracting inbound links to your article. In fact a good content is one that always implements the goal of attracting links.

The success of content should not be judged on your own opinion or the opinion of the audience. From my point of view its success is always determined by the extent of goals already achieved.
I should say that high quality content it’s a strategy. It serves a definite purpose and it’s targeted on meeting a certain objective. Before you write something in the blog, you should analyze your intentions clearly. You should know for sure what exactly you want to achieve with this particular article. Each message must have a defined purpose. You should establish definite clear goals for your content.

And after the publication you should also be concerned with its promotion. And this will bring you closer to that goal. For example, you can send a message to some friends. Use email or ICQ for this purpose. Make sure you know what they think about it.

If you are interested in attracting social traffic, offer it to several influential bloggers and ask them to promote it through the appropriate channels. When your promotion has been completed look at your statistics of the results. How many links have you received? How many people have paid attention to your content? Have you managed to draw attention of popular bloggers?

These results will give you an approximate understanding of a “good content”. In other words it’s exactly the content with a list of designated targets. Such a goal oriented approach to the development of content may seem a bit mechanical, but I think that it’s a fairly simple way to improve the quality of your work. I should say that many people use this approach quite efficiently every day. So this means that the same approach will bring you benefits too. And I hope that you’ve understood what this “good content” means.

Can A Journalist Become A Copywriter?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Having spent more than eight years in the off-line media as a journalist and later as commissioning editor, I decided to try myself as a copywriter online. In this case, I saw the following advantages. They are independence of editors, a flexible schedule and a wide choice of topics for articles. That is the life of a copywriter. Certainly it seemed to be much freer than the life of a journalist.

As a journalist, I wrote either in the wake of real news such as reports, interviews or I just selected the conditional information about different incidents. Sometimes I also wrote different kinds of analytic and a couple of times I was also engaged in writing advertising articles. I should say that in most cases I had no problems with all of this mentioned above. Here below I’d like to offer you the main distinctive features of copywriting.

I’d like to begin immediately with the most difficult feature for me which is the size of the text. In journalism it’s possible to chew the main theme of the article from all possible sides. Accordingly texts often contain a great number of words. On the contrary in copywriting the faster you work the better results you can acquire. You’d better sell ten articles with 2-3 thousand characters than one with 25000 characters. As for me I’m used to exploring and examining the topic to the maximum extent. I’m not likely to squeeze everything into the story. I prefer omitting some things which seem to be worthless for me. I should pass the material for the article through my author’s vision at first. At first I try to write the whole article and then I sit and try to break it up into little articles with sub-themes. Of course it’s possible to carry out but at the same time it is very troublesome I should say. It’s because I’ve simply got used to dealing with the topic from all sides. In copywriting you should just write a lot of small articles each of which is going to cover topics from any required angle.

As a rule, a popular theme has long been chewed up by a hundred of writers before you to my great regret. But any way there’s a way you should go in this case. So the essence of this solution is that you should find unusual aspects in any popular theme. Otherwise it will be a sort of rewriting from my point of view. I should say that I’m not likely to use rewriting at all. Besides this you should also avoid complex sentences because you aren’t Dickens of course. In addition it’s not advisable to forget about key words. I hope that my review about copywriting has appeared to be rather absorbing for you.
