Skilled Internet marketers grasp that the backlinks to their website are a significant factor in their site’s search engine ranking. The more other sites you have linking to your website, the more significant your site seems to be in the eyes of the search engines.  As a consequence, the higher your site will be placed in the search engine results.

Reciprocal linking is one approach to increase backlinks.  But, reciprocal links has a drawback because two sites link to each other.  This frequently warns the search engines that an contrived association involving the sites is present.  Even three way links often alert the search engines that something abnormal is  happening.  Because of these unnatural affiliations, your search engine ranking can plunge.
